The official shuttle bus for the 26th United Nations Climate Conference

According to Busnet.com, on October 14, 2021 local time, BYD and British bus manufacturer partner Alexander Dennis (ADL) announced that the two parties have tailored 22 units for the Scottish bus operator First Bus. The BYD ADL Enviro200EV pure electric single-deck bus will become the official connection vehicle for the 26th United Nations Climate Conference (COP26). These buses will travel to and from Glasgow city, as well as the blue and green areas of the main venue of COP26, providing zero-emission travel services for global participants.

As a leader in low-carbon travel in the United Kingdom, First Bus has purchased 22 BYD ADL Enviro200EV pure electric single-deck buses this year. These buses have been produced in Falkirk, a local factory in Scotland that BYD and ADL have cooperated with. It is 11.6 meters long and has a mileage of 160 miles on a single charge.

In addition, the project is supported by the Scottish Government’s “Ultra Low Emission Bus Program”, which aims to promote the procurement of zero-emission buses by bus operators. It is worth mentioning that this investment also allows First Bus to transform its traditional old bus station into the largest electric bus station in the UK.

Scottish Transport Minister Graeme Dey said: “I am very pleased that our’Ultra Low Emission Bus Program’ has facilitated the implementation of these electric bus projects on schedule, making Scotland a model area for green development. These vehicles are produced locally, which also makes us green. Investment further stimulates local employment, promotes the development of the entire upstream and downstream industries of Scotland’s buses, and benefits all Scottish people.”

First Bus Acting General Manager Duncan Cameron said: “It is a great honor to be selected as the official public transport operator of COP26. We will work together with the Scottish Transport Authority, the government and various partners to provide participants with efficient and fast travel services.”

Frank Thorpe, General Manager of BYD UK Branch, said: “We are honored that BYD can participate in this climate conference and use our zero-emission products to help green carbon reduction actions. We have been committed to technological innovation, based on our own mature Pure electric bus technology and rich operating experience provide a total solution for zero-emission transportation in the public transportation sector, which is vital to building a green transportation system in the future.”

Paul Davies, General Manager of ADL, added: “I look forward to the zero-emission performance of these vehicles during the COP26 conference. Localized production and operation also demonstrate our commitment to serving the local area.”

With the development of the economy, serious urban air pollution and climate change problems also follow. Since 1995, the United Nations has held an annual summit to bring together politicians and policymakers from almost all countries on the planet to discuss climate goals and progress in reducing emissions. Nowadays, countries all over the world hope to achieve a balanced development of economy and climate change. Zero-emission electric vehicles have become a viable way for future transportation development and an important measure to deal with climate change.

It is reported that the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) is scheduled to be held in Glasgow, UK from November 1-12, 2021, and will be attended by representatives of more than 190 countries and regions. The activities of this conference are mainly held in the blue zone and the green zone. In the blue zone, representatives of various countries meet for consultations and informal consultations, while the green zone is a venue for the general public for everyone to participate in and watch.

For a long time, BYD has actively responded to the United Nations Climate Change Conference initiative and has continuously participated in relevant meetings in the past few years. In fact, as early as 2011, BYD released the “Urban Bus Electrification” solution, which was subsequently promoted to China’s national strategy. Promote the full electrification of vehicles through distribution, and build a “7+4” market-wide green transportation system and a zero-emission new energy ecosystem. At the beginning of this year, BYD announced the launch of corporate carbon neutrality planning research, and in August launched the first “Zero Carbon Park” project at the group headquarters to build the first zero-carbon park headquarters for a Chinese automobile brand. This is not only the specific action of BYD’s “Cool the Earth by 1°C” initiative, but also a direct manifestation of the development concept of “green, low-carbon and sustainable” that BYD has been adhering to.The official shuttle bus for the 26th United Nations Climate Conference-Sukorun

Today, BYD’s business scope represented by the electrification of public transportation covers more than 300 cities in more than 50 countries and regions around the world. In the future, BYD will continue to shoulder the brand mission of “using technological innovation to satisfy people’s yearning for a better life” and deliver more and better new energy products to consumers around the world.
