Cummins completes acquisition of Jacobs

Cummins Corporation announced that it has completed the acquisition of Jacobs Vehicle Systems (Jacobs Vehicle Systems), a subsidiary of Altra Industrial Motion.

Jacobs is a major supplier of engine braking, cylinder deactivation, start-stop and thermal management technologies. The addition of Jacobi will bring new technologies to Cummins’ current and future advanced diesel engine platforms, providing new growth opportunities. In addition, the acquisition secures the supply of key engine components for current and aftermarket products, helping Cummins offer a wider range of products to users around the world.

Engine braking and cylinder deactivation technologies will be an important part of meeting curren and future emissions regulations, and this acquisition will allow Cummins to better apply these important technologies to emissions-leading medium and heavy-duty engine systems.

Jacobs operations will report to Turbo Technology Systems, part of the Cummins Components business unit headed by Shon Wright, vice president of Cummins.

Founded in 1961, Jacobs has approximately 600 employees with over 60 years of experience in engine retarding and valve actuation systems for the commercial vehicle industry. Jacobs has two main production sites in Bloomfield, Connecticut, USA and Suzhou, China.
