ZF launches electronically controlled compact air handling unit for commercial vehicles

ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions officially launched a new electronically controlled compact air handling unit (EC-CAPU) in the Asia-Pacific market in March 2022, focusing on providing cost-reducing and efficiency-enhancing solutions for commercial vehicles, helping to build Green and low-carbon transportation environment.

The protection of the ecological environment is the premise of long-term development. In recent years, the global carbon emission regulations and policies have continued to be tightened, and carbon reduction and emission reduction have a long way to go. Since the implementation of China’s National VI emission standards, vehicles have also undergone comprehensive upgrades in exhaust gas treatment and filtering devices. At the same time, with the diversification of market demand, the configuration of the vehicle is also being improved accordingly. These factors have put forward higher requirements for the rationality of the spatial arrangement of the vehicle system.

To this end, ZF officially launched a new electronically controlled compact air handling unit (EC-CAPU), which aims to provide customers with solutions that save space, reduce costs and increase efficiency, and promote the sustainable development of the ecosystem. The project has successfully achieved mass production in March 2022.

Compact design reduces cost

The new electronically controlled compact air handling unit (EC-CAPU) newly launched by ZF can meet the needs of domestic mainframe customers for the installation space in the car. The product is based on proven technology and uses 94% off-the-shelf components. The compact design includes an air dryer equipped with two solenoid valves and a multi-circuit protection valve (MCPV). Compared with the previous generation, the volume has been reduced by about 35%. Effectively save installation space

The new electronically controlled compact air handling unit (EC-CAPU) is intelligently controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU) and ZF fuel-saving software. The fuel-saving software can be directly integrated into the ECU of the customer’s complete vehicle, so no additional components are required for air management. At the same time, only by setting the parameters of the ECU, intelligent control of different system pressure levels can be realized, which greatly improves the cost efficiency.
