Firstly, if encountering serious blockage of the DPF, it is recommended that no regeneration operation be carried out on the vehicle. The DPF needs to be removed for ash cleaning treatment, and then the diagnostic equipment should perform corresponding regeneration operation and carbon load reset/lock (specific operation should be based on the specific flow of the diagnostic equipment). If the carbon load is severely exceeded and still needs to be regenerated, it is easy to cause high aftertreatment temperature and damage to the DPF.
If encountering frequent regeneration and DPF blockage, such faults can lead to a decrease in vehicle power and fuel economy. It is recommended to investigate from the following aspects.
1: The carbon load model value is incorrect;
The carbon load model error is mainly reflected in the fact that the DPF indicator light is not lit and the DPF carbon load read by the diagnostic device is not high, but the actual DPF is already blocked, or there is a phenomenon where the actual DPF is not blocked but the carbon load read by the diagnostic device data stream is already too high. This phenomenon belongs to the carbon load model value error, (When the pressure difference sensor is normal, it can be used to determine whether the DPF is actually blocked.) It is recommended to investigate from the following aspects:
① Troubleshooting the engine system: Check if there are any faults in the intake system, EGR, rail pressure, fuel injectors, crankshaft sensors, etc; It is also necessary to determine whether the monitoring values of the intake system are accurate. Failure of the above components or incorrect values may cause calculation errors in the carbon load model values.
② AfterRun interrupted: It can be determined through communication with the driver whether there is a situation where the main power supply (ECU main power supply) is immediately disconnected after parking or abnormal power outage causes ECU data to not be saved properly, resulting in estimation errors in the carbon load model.
