Working principle of fuel metering unit‌:

When the engine is running, the ECU (engine control unit) calculates the difference between the current injection amount of the injector and the target rail pressure to determine the amount of fuel that should enter the oil pump to be pressurized.

A certain amount of oil corresponds to a certain electromagnetic coil current. When the control current passes through the electromagnetic coil, a magnetic force is generated to push the valve core to a certain position, close to the plunger, and the oil volume is adjusted by adjusting the opening size.

The structure and function of the fuel metering unit:

The fuel metering unit usually consists of a valve core, a housing with a solenoid coil, and a plunger. When the engine is running, the ECU controls the fuel metering unit by calculating the injection amount and the rail pressure difference. A certain amount of oil corresponds to a certain solenoid coil current. The ECU controls the current of the solenoid coil through the duty cycle signal to adjust the position of the valve core and then adjust the oil volume.

The fuel metering unit plays a key role in engine control. It is installed at the oil inlet position of the high-pressure oil pump to adjust the fuel supply and fuel pressure value. The ECU adjusts the position of the valve core by controlling the current of the solenoid coil to control the oil volume. If the fuel metering unit is damaged, it will lead to problems such as increased engine fuel consumption, reduced power, and flame out.
